Simple Present Tense (Presente Simple)

Definition: It is used to describe actions that happen regularly, permanent facts, routines, or actions that are true at the moment of speaking.

Structure:
  • Affirmative:
    Subject + base verb (add -s or -es for he, she, it)

    • I play soccer.

    • She reads books.

    • He watches TV.

  • Negative:
    Subject + do/does not + base verb

    • I do not (don't) like milk.

    • He does not (doesn't) play the guitar.

  • Questions:
    Do/Does + subject + base verb?

    • Do you study English?

    • Does she live in London?

Examples:
  • I wake up at 6 AM.

  • She goes to school by bus.

  • They eat lunch at 12 PM.

  • He doesn't like coffee.

  • Do you speak Spanish?
